I DON'T KNOW

I CLEANED THE EGR AND TPS, INSTALLED MIKE'S 92 COMPUTER. CRANKED EASIER BUT IDLE WAS FROM 500 TO 1500 RPMS.

I READ THAT A CAM WITH A LOT OF OVERLAP WOULD CAUSE ROUGH IDLE. SOMETHING ABOUT LOW VACUUM.

relaxinrob 06-07-2004 10:09 AM

i had the same thing happen once and it was a defective egr valve.

WHEN I 1ST START IT, THE ENGINE WILL IDLE FROM 500 TO 1500 RPM. AFTER A MINUTE OR SO IT IDLES AT 1100 AND WILL GO UP AND DOWN A LITTLE. PRO FLOW CALIBRATED FOR 24 LB INJECTIONS. WHEN ITS HOT, AND I AM SITTING AT A LONG LIGHT IT WILL DROP FROM 1000 TO 800 +.

do you always leave your battery hooked up or do you disconnect
it when you park the car lets say in your garage

UP DATE

I HAD A FORD MECHANIC TO CODE READ MY CAR. FOUND NOTHING WRONG. ALSO PUT A BREAK OUT BOX ON THE COMPUTER AND CHECKED EVERYTHING. THE PRO FLOW 73mm MASS AIR METER CHECKED OK BUT THE MECHANIC SAID HE HAD TROUBLE WITH ONE A FEW WEEKS AGO ON A MUSTANG. WE INSTALLED THE OLD FORD SENSOR ON THE PRO FLOW BODY AND THE CAR CRANKED AND RAN FIND. I CALL FORD TEC SERVICE AND TALKED TO JEFF DUNNE. HE EXPLAINED THAT HE HAD BOUGHT PRO M AFTER THEY WHEN BANKRUPT. HE HAD ME TO SHIP HIM THE METER AND THEY ARE GOING TO RE-CALIBRATE IT AND RETURN IT. SOMETIME IT TAKE THE RIGHT PEOPLE AT THE RIGHT TIME TO FIX SOME OF THESE COBRA PROBLEMS. THE DYNO AT THE LONDON COBRA SHOW WILL TELL IF I HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM.

Sticky air idle bypass valve? Hate to mention the obvious but my Mustang did the same crap last winter, and that fixed the darn thing. Just a idea.

I BOUGHT A BYPASS AND INSTALLED IT BUT THAT DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. BOUGHT A NEW MASS AIR AND INSTALLED IT WEDSDAY NIGHT AND TOOK A 30 MILE TEST DRIVE. THURSDAY MORNING AT 4 AM WE LEFT FOR THE LONDON COBRA SHOW. 535 MILES LATTER WE PULLED INTO THE HAMPTON INN. CAR RAN GREAT. GOT ABOUT 20 MPG. SATURDAY AT THE LONDON COBRA SHOW I HAD MY COBRA DYNOed. I MADE 288 RWHP AND 295 TQ. PULLED TO 6100 RPM. PIC OF DYNO SHEET IN MY GALLERY. FOR 3 YEARS I HAVE BEEN WORRING WITH THIS PROBLEM.
