manual choke hookup???

i'm in the process of hooking everything up and i'm gonna hook up my manual choke cable...but i do'nt know excatly how it's supossed to work?...i've got the throttle cable on, and it pulls the linkage towards the firewall, but where the choke would attach seems to want to pull the other way?...maybe i'm stupid but i don't understand excatly what i'm supossed to do?

if anyone could help me out, or maybe post some pics of your choke hookup that would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance!

It hooks up on the passenger side of the carb and pulls toward the firewall also.

WITH YOUR CHOKE PULL PUSHED IN AT THE DASH, ATTACH THE CHOKE HOOKUP TO YOUR CABLE WITH THE BUTTERFLY FULLY OPEN. WHEN YOU PULL THE CHOKE OUT IT SHOULD CLOSE THE BUTTERFLY TO CHOKE THE CARB. AS THE ENGINE WARMS UP START PUSHING IT IN SO IT OPENS THE BUTTERFLY. i HAVE AN ELECTRIC CHOKE BUT IT IS HOW WE USE TO SET MY MUSTANG 30 YEARS AGO , IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY.
