i'm getting off the subject a little here but what ever happened with your friend's 7000 series car with the brake problems? i'm interested in knowing what the problem turned out to be? thanks.......john |

All the tests I suggested were while cranking, each to validate a specific leg of the circuit. |

One more thing as mentioned above. A bad battery will stop a good one from craking the car if it has a bad cell or so. Higher voltage from the newer battery sees the bad one as a ground and won't go through. So if you decide to try it without removing the old battery first, disconnect it. I carry one of the small portable jumper units in my cars and they work great. Ron |
Ford starter relays are externially grounded and it sounds like you have lost that ground. You can check it by running a ground wire from the relay to a good ground on the car. Then try to start
