I have a (I think) an MG steering colum .The colum mounted headlight dimmer switch wiring harness has 4 wires . A red and striped wire =hot common, two blue and different striped wires =high and low. There is a brown wire in that harness. What is it's funtion?

Michael, I picked up a couple of those and wrestled with the same thing, opted to go with toggle switch on dash, turned sideways of course.

No guarantees, but if you attach it to a power source, it will flash the headlights when you pull the wand.
(It always helps to have a factory service manual from a '67 MGB handy...)

I'm doing testing with a multi-meter .I'll try it.
Turns out to be low beam wright?
Power is supposed to come from accessory ?

An accessory power source would be fine. I think that it flashes the high beams.
