Gas Pump Doesn't Stop with New Fuel Cell

All,

Got a new fuel cell for the Superformance, but now the automatic fuel cutoff doesn't work at the pumps. I have to listen for the gurgling or face a rush of gas back at me. It would be OK, but the cicadas are so damn loud...

Ideas?

Doug,

My fuel cell does the same thing. I think it has something to do with the foam not sucking up the gas as fast as the pump pumps it in. Most of the gas pump nozzles have the flat rubber ring around the tube. I just press that against the filler neck and fill until the pump stops, then wait a few seconds to give the gas a chance to settle. At that point, the tank is probably a gallon or two from being full. Then I look inside and fill to where I can see the gas and stop... fill to where I can see the gas and stop... until the fuel is up to the filler neck. Yeah, it's a little extra work, but it gives you something to do while you're talking to the people who come over and want to talk about the car. It really only takes another minute or two.

Lowell
