Lowering my Lone Star, Help....
I am trying to lower my LS but am having some problems. I have the rear coilovers adjusted all the way down and still can not get it low enough.
The front is even a little stranger. I have lowered the passenger side as low as it will go and it will not drop as much as the drivers side. The driver side treads are in the middle of the housing. I am not looking to slam it to the ground but would like a lower ride for comfort and handling. Will a lower spring rate help? Any suggestions? Or is it an investment into new coilovers? If so what kind and setup Thank You |
What size wheels and what kind of shocks do you have? I have 17" wheels and the Aldon shocks, with this setup, I can prety much lower my car as low as I want. You want your front lower A arms to be level to the ground, make sure they are. Unless your ride now is really bone jaring stiff, don't go any lighter on the springs, it will bottom out. I think my springs are 10" long. The fronts are 350#,(that's for a big block), and the rears are 220#.

You should change the springs.
You can buy them in different weights and lengths. Look into QA-1 or Eibach springs Roscoe |

My Lone Star has the same shocks and spring rates as Tim's does.Has 10" springs. Your lower rear shock mounts have two mounting locations.Going to the lower hole makes about 3/4-1" difference. What length are your springs ? You don't want to lower it to the point you bottom the shocks out on bumps/dips. The shocks don't have a lot of travel,work at getting the ride height in the middle of the stroke. Of course changing your ride height means a frontend alignment and checking your pinion angle. |
