Aluminum interior panel templates???
Hi
Are there any templates available to reproduce interior, trunk and engine compartment aluminum panels for a 427 Cobra ??? This would be for an original size and original style frame and body. Last resort, is there a manufacture that sells these panels ??? I have cutting and bending equipment available. Thanks for the help. Dave |

I could give templates a try....create, from your dimensions, paper
templates to copy. I have a laser, use both autocad 2000 and Corel to create patterns. I have created some gaskets and templates for my own build. I am set up to cut plastics and wood, engravings etc but not metal I CAN though, with accurate measurements, create a template in paper or oak tag. usrowboy@comcast.net John Zeigler Laser Frames, Inc |
You should be able to get most of what you need from the frame and the wealth of pictures available. I have a CAD dwg of the gas tank I can send you, that at least fills the space under the trunk floor. Looks like it's progressing well are you building your own frame?

Dave,
I used cardboard to make my templates. I found that the irreguarities in the interior glass requried lots of tweaking to get a good fit. Here are pictures of my project http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/show...light=aluminum |
Hey everyone. Thanks for the information. I added another pic of rear trunk area.
Roger.... you've been very busy with your aluminum work. Beautiful !!!! Nick.....Most of the frame was built by another party, I'm adding to it. Too bad they don't make "clear" aluminum. The car will be show and street cruiser. |
Is that John Fiore's stainless work?
|
Mickmate, Yep
Do you know John???? He bought a new Cobra from Shelby, Las Vegas. 427 aluminum motor. I guess he no longer had time to complete this what with all the playing with his new one. It's going to be a long and hard project to complete. I will probably be an active member on these pages. haha Dave |
Aha, I recognised John's fabulous work. He has built from the original frame prints ( as a few of us have ) but with the Vette rear and Stang front. He is a good lad for info but again like some other Cobra addicts that build them, very busy. His car is on display in the latest Kit Car mag at the National Rod and Custom Car Show in Tulsa. Between John and the others that hang around here there's plenty of info available. I'll be back in touch.
