How much lube for 9" rear?
How much lube goes in a 9" rear? Or should I just keep filling it up until it come out of the plug hole?

I think I put 2 quarts in mine plus some friction modifier. The easiest way to do it though is just pull the lower plug out and fill from the top plug until it runs out the bottom hole. Can't go wrong that way.

I didn't see a lower and upper plug. I see one middle-way up on the driver's side of the rear

There should be a plug about half way up on the center section itself....the fill hole should be on top of the axle housing.

Fill it till the lube just starts to leak out the fill hole. Make sure you add the posi lube first if you need to.

I don't know much about this rear other than whomever put it together forgot to put the copper washers on each stud, so the rear constantly had a drip. I can tell you that it does not spin both tires, yet balances power very well on a dyno-pak dyno. I was recommended to put 75-140 Amsoil lube in it.....
The reason I tell you all of this is that could it be that I have a posi rear with no posi lube in it? If so, I assume that it will not work without it.

Jack it up.....spin one tire....if the other tire spins with it, it's most likely a limited slip diff......if the other tire spins opposite....it's open.

Standard (OEM Production) only had the single fill plug on the LH side of the gear carrier. Oil was drained by sucking it out of the hole or removing the gear carrier from the axle housing and allowing it to pour into a pan. A wise option if you have the housing out of the car would be to weld bungs on the top and bottom of the housing, it makes oil changing a lot easier.
