Yet another addition to the "which oil should I use" dispute
Lately this topic seems to be coming up a lot more in common discussion...
Just curious as to what everyone's setup is and what you're running? (and your opinions on what people SHOULD be running?) Myself: 302, bored .030", B303 cam, Edelbrock 60cc heads, high volume oil pump, 600dp carb...Castrol 5w30 full synthetic... Let's hear it! |
I use Castrol 10w30 full synthetic. Moble 1 ATF in the trans, and Moble 1 diff oil in the diff with Ford friction modifier for the posi.

I also use Castrol 10-30 synthetic, but have run others depending on the price at the time. Got the Castrol on sale. Tremec runs BG Syncroshift.

5W-30 mobil 1 in the motor, redline MT90 in the toploader, Moroso climbing gear in the power lock with two tubes of GM anti slip additive.
As for motor oil weight, run what the builder recommends or enough vis to get the pressure where you want/need it. 351 cleveland built 'tight' standard pump 30 psi hot idle up about 8-9 psi per thousand pressure relief in about the 90psi range. Rick |
15W-50 mobil 1 in the engine, 8 Qts.
75-150w synth-tech in the toploader, 2 Qts. 90W Gear lube with a bottle of 'non-slip' in the Nine Inch. DOT 3 in all three master cylinders ( I think it's DOT 3 ). 45 PSI idle and peggs the needle ( over 80 PSI ) at 3500 RPM and above. |
