Max,
All the above, plus. Without , what is called the Battery Temp. Sensor--which goes to the ECM the battery will not charge. The way I read it is; the Batt. Sensor reads the battery, sends the/a signal to the ECM, then the ECM turns on/off the alternator. Yes, you will need both 02' sets, or four in all. Reads 'upstream and downstream' flow. The fuel pump has to maintain AT LEAST 54 PSI AT ALL TIMES! The GEN III uses hyperutectic pistons, different cam and of course the intake. Be carefull on buying any EFI system, i.e.; ACCELL, HOLLEY, etc. remember these units were never set up for a 10 cylinder system. Just a side note for you, the Vipers use coils from one of their 6 cyl. engines and one from a 4 cyl. engine. Wiring: It's easier to tell you what we did use rather than what we didn't. "ALL" engine controls, all transmission controls, minus the 'skip shift' lockout. Fan controls, batt. sensor, fuel pump harnes...this is a must as the ECM also runs the pump. What is a big plus using the Viper fuel system is that there is no need for a "return" fuel line. Just some examples of what we deleted, basic electrical, headlights, etc., AC harness AND pump. (You can keep this though, if you're planning on running AC), Seat belts, anti-lock (brakes) system, theft, interior wiring for dash etc. Think that should give you some idea, but absolutely check the book. Killing one system may effect another! DV |
Double post...sorry

went to the Dodge dealership
I heard some good news and some bad. The good news is that the SRT/10 truck motor (which I have) has less restrictive emmisions than the car therefore has a more "modification friendly" wiring harness with less things to bypass or delete.
The bad news is that the harness is completely different than that in the car. The info in the manual on the car is pretty intense and fairly general straightforward electronics. The manual for the truck is very vague since the motor is an option in the truck and has a completely different harness than the car. The "Expert" Tech there seemed to think this was to my advantage. So in short: the manual (single book) for the car does me no good and the manuals for the truck (3 books) are very vague. he also suggested me buying a harness for the car and buying the car manual. this is gonna be a fun one. a little more intense than what I did with my 514 (check my gallery). check out the Ebay item# 7924545518. This is the unit I scammed!:3DSMILE: :D :3DSMILE: :D :3DSMILE: |
Hello Greg,
Looks like you made it home safe and sound. Sure hope that you sprung for a motel room on the way home:D Good luck on squeezing that V10 in your car! |
Hello Kelly!
Yes we sure did get a motel. A shower never felt so good! had another blowout on the way home on the other front tire. there was plenty of tread on both of them so I have to sum it up to the tires age. I bought that set of tires in 97. I dont do alot of driving in my truck as its only for work on the weekends if Im lucky enough to get any. then to make things worse my tire iron broke so I couldnt get the dang thing off! turns out I had other tools and I was able to finagle it off with a large crescent wrench and limp it to the next city where I bought another tire and another Alcoa rim. Pretty expensive trip all & all!!! But I am home and I am on my way to having a nassty ride once again! Im thinking since my windshield can only take around 160MPH i may as well change out them 2:73's and put in some 4:10's for a really sick ride! Ill still have a top end of 160 or so (Ive never been that fast anyway):3DSMILE: :D

wiring harness
DV, if this is the harness that they use to sell for the GenII than there obviously is not much to it. Iv got the harness that goes to the gauges & all that under the dash It looks like all I need is the harness that is currently on the motor. This is looking easier than I thought.:3DSMILE: :D

sorry I forgot to include the photo

Max,
Interesting. But that certainly is NOT the harness that we have used. I found that harness on the web and it DOES say it is for 'non-Viper' installations. Where is the ECM plug? Where are all the injectors plugs, where are the coil connectors? Staying tuned. The search is on! DV |
DV....
Im sure this harness in the photo just interfaces the one on my engine to the desired vehicle. Im thinking this one takes the place of the large one I have that runs all the BS I dont need I.E. A/C, PW,PL,radio, gauges etc. etc.:JEKYLHYDE If I could get the schematics to this one and a Gen II, I should be able to figure out what they did to that harness and follow suite.
