demon siteglass fuel level setting/where is yours

hey all,
im getting more than one opinion on where to set the float level
at on a demon carb. specifically a mighty demon.

how bout listing where yours is set at to serve as a poll.
it is understood that each combo may require something different,
but i hope to get some direction on whats working for most of you demon owners out there.

describe it how you please, but try to be clear on where you are at.....i.e. top......half way....... quarter way............at the very bottom of the siteglass, etc.

thanks alot jerome baker

thanks to all who are helping me work thru my demon overfueling
at idle and cruise

Hi Again,

O.K. I'm running a 428FE with a Mighty Demon 750; CC Cam 292/.560 (244@.50), Edlebrock performer intake and 350:1 gears. My site glasses are set at the very bottom. Any higher and the engine tries to stall from pooling under off-throttle or braking. Mid-site glass settings are a base line and it does not work in all applications especially when you run a radical cam. Make sure you do all of your carb adjustments after the timing is set and you are at operating temperature.

P.S. I've got a Carter 130 g.p.h. pump that puts out 5.5 - 6.0 psi at idle. To much pressure or not enough may be something to look into as well.

I agree with Mike...

The Demon bowls are so large they hold enough fuel without having to raise the float to a problematic level. Mine are set at the very bottom of the glass just as Mikes are.

mj:
Sounds like we are running the exact same setup, with exception of the Demon....planning to install a demon over the winter. Have you had good success with tuning and performance with the demon?

Hey BigMike,
I love the tuning on the Mighty Demon 750. It is very sensitive to adjustment and that makes it hard to get right sometimes, but after that it works great. Remember to select the carb thats right for your application (Call Don Gould for Help / www.4secondsflat.com ). I also have accepted that the Mighty Demon is chokeless and I wait for proper warm-up before driving. I don't think I will ever switch back to Holley. I knew I was in love when the secondaries opened up for the first time.

I'm running the Speed Demon 650 dp and I run the floats with the fuel level in the middle of the site glasses. the car surges if set at lower level. I don't know if the speed demon has smaller bowls than the mighty demon but thats what works for me

I tune Demon carbs every day all day.

I always set the floats at 1/2 on the rear and at the top mark or 2/3rds on the front.

If your having issues with this float setting then your 4 corner bleeds aren't adjusted correctly.

As you raise the float you make it easier to pull fuel in the idle circuits which may give it a tendancy to run rich, just reduce the fuel with the bleeds.

Read over my Demon tuning 101 at
http://www.4secondsflat.com/demon101.html

If you have any questions call me and I'll go over the tuning proceedure with you and we'll see if we can dial it in closer for you.

I try and work in the shop in the afternoons so mornings between about 7am and noon PST are best for me....and of course I'm here nearly 7 days a week now until race season begins, then I hang out the closed sign from Friday about noon until Monday morning.

Tuning Mighty Demo

Hi:
Please send me your phone number as I am having loads of issues tuning my new Mighty Demon 750 on a performance built sbc. I have twin turbos installed, but can't get the carb dialed in to drive and check out the turbo installation.
