Back up light on my SPF?
Hi all. I am about to go through the SB100 on my SPF and I have heard that I might need a brake and light inspection. How do I solve the problem of installing a back up light on this car?

culledon,
First and foremost, 'Welcome to THE CLUB'. Second, I'm not sure but I do NOT think SB 100 requires B/U lights, but if they do, may I assume you have a version of the T-5 tranny? There is a switch on the side of the transmission that has two brass pins sticking straight out. You can use this for your switch. Pick up any small clear bumper lights, or even a license plate type light at your local AutoZone, or even NAPA. You can mount these forward of the rear lip and up underneath to the point where you almost have to bend over to see them. I wouldn't make them to permanent if you know what I mean ;). DV...hope this helps....onward! |
Culloden,
Back-up lights are NOT needed. There is not one reg that he/she can show you that they are needed. The "Year of the Model" is "0000" and Make "SPCNS". If yhey won't budge...go some where else. curtis |
Culloden,
The brake and light inspection is anything but structured. Some DMV's ask for it, some don't. Although they give refrence to the backup light, it wasn't required in 1965. If for some reason they want it, don't panic! Depending on the tranny you have, there is/are accomidations for the switch. #1, don't fight DMV!!! You won't win, just do what they ask. If you have problems, e-mail me. Chris |
