Oberg oil filter on 427SC

I would appreciate knowing if the original 427 Cobra had just an Oberg or similar diagnostic filter in the oil system, or did it have a remote paper element oil filter as well?

What I am trying to ascertain is if I was to fit an Oberg 600 oil filter (60 micron) would that be sufficient to clean the oil, as I am not into to much restriction in the system!

Obergs are not meant to be your only means of filtration. While I have never worked on an "original" I would be very surprized if there was an Oberg "like" filter on them. Oberg filters came into existance in the early 80's (to my recollection) and were first used on racecars such as Top Fuel dragsters. I use Obergs on all my racecars and have since then.
There were aircraft oil strainer baskets that were used on some racecars back in the 60s when they had dry-sump systems - These were in cast aluminum housings and I believe they were made by the Bendix corp..
I would not advise that you use any of these as your only means of filtration.
