Gasket material
I need to make my own gaskets to bolt my collectors to my headers. Where can I find some good gasket material to make these?
|
Mr. gasket makes the same stuff you were using before. Lone star makes their own gaskets and use the same white board material.
Check their web site and get the number. I think I spend $12.00 for a large sheet of it. Just after you have cut the holes, check them against the flange. When you bolt them on, use a smear of that super copper RTV, it helps. Hope this helps. |
Trularin, thanks. I had overlooked the high temp RTV, that should help alot. How's the weather up your way?
|
You can just use the Permatex Copper hi temp silicone. I've had that on my sidepipe collector flanges w/no gasket for the past 4K miles. Guys also use that to seal sub plates to the heads on Kooks headers. Just let it fully cure before use and it will hold up just fine..

Dave;
PAW in LA has 3 and 4 bolt collector gaskets in their catalogue if you have trouble finding them. I'd still use the Permatex. Bill Stradtner |
