Undercar exhaust question - Tip length
Hi Folks,
I finally have one side of my ERA undercar exhaust installed. What do you guys think of the length of the tip? The ones they sent are 9" and sliding it further on is limited by the hanger. Looks too long to me, but do any of you have a picture of an original cobra from approximately this angle? I'd like to match an original street car as best I can. Thanks, Chuck http://www.chuckbrandt.com/exhausttip.jpg |

Hey Chuck, looking good. I have a couple of good shots of the Woolfe car CSX3167 but I'll have to scan them in for ya. In the meantime........

Thanks Mickmate
Thanks Mickmate, these are really useful. It looks to me like the length isn't all that bad, but the angle is. Most of the others appear to be more parralel with the ground. I may want to shorten them up to minimize the effect.
It's interesting that the Green car is an ERA but there is a jog in the tail pipe that I don't have. Thanks, Chuck |
Chuck,
The green ERA car is mine. There isn't a bend in the tailpipe on either side. It's straight and the angle is straight with the ground. Don |
Thanks Don, beautiful car!
Thanks Don. Beautiful car by the way. Did ERA make your tail pipes or did you have someone else do it? Mine are pointing down to the ground at 6 degrees.

Hey guys, sorry about not even knowing whose car it is Don. I just keep a file on undercar exhaust cos that's what I'll be doing. Congratulate yourself on being an inspiration and not knowing it! They are both green ERA's by the way. The top car is a local car up here of Bruce and Junes. It's just dark enough to look black in certain light. Chuck I like what you're doing with the rug rat roll bar (even after the tranny thing haha) I'm not sure if I'm filling the roll bar holes yet......

Undercar exhaust
Hey guys.. Thanks for the kind words..I really enjoy the car.
Chuck, I noticed that your exhaust tips are pointing down..Mine do not point down and are parallel to the ground. The exhaust was made by ERA. Maybe their fabricators erred when they put the final bend before they straighten out This should be a simple fix. You have to take them to a muffler shop and have them bent with a tubing bender in order to be parallel to the ground. I had some similar issues when I installed new ERA headers and primary pipes last year. My exhaust guy had to do a little heating and bending so that the primary was straight with the chassis. Let me know if you need any info on the length of the tips. Don |
Yeah I think so too.
Yes I agree, esthetically they should be parallel to the ground. I ordered some shorter tips which may hide the fact a little. I'm pushing to get it licensed :)
I'll check into having a muffler shop tweek them. Thanks, Chuck |
