Yes, in a sense, I'm going to rub an ice cube on it after I shut the car off. Hopefully I don't end up in ICU as a burn victim. A friend at work also suggested it. It doesn't need to be red hot as it were. He said he a had a plastic grocery sack land on the front of his engine while riding a motorcycle and it melted to all four pipes. He rubbed an ice cube over the area, it turn into a little glass like beads and he chipped it off with a micarta scraper. No damage or residue, I looked for myself. He used "MET-ALL" which is an aluminum polish used primarily on aircraft after the pipes were cooled down. This car cover isn't exactly a plastic grocery sack but I'm hoping it has the same effect.

Thanks for this great thread. I've had a plastic grocery bag stuck (or what's left of it) on my left side pipe for a couple of months now. I'll try the ice method by holding it with my Ove Glove (not just for the kitchen anymore!)

Dave hope it works for you, I probably won't get to try the ice cube trick until this weekend. Good luck:3DSMILE:
