Stained aluminum problem
I have stained the aluminum inner fenders with splashed hot anti-freeze [50% if it matters] and now have permanent stains to live with.
If anyone has found success removing such stains [almost looks "bleached"] I would greatly appreciate the advice, the product and the method to do so. I've tried every compound, polish, spray cleaner and even bronze wool to no avail. I can't use wet-or-dry with WD-40 due to the difficult locations to reach and that's with the motor currently out of the car! Help and thanks! |
"hair of the dog" What would happen if you used hot antifreeze?

I am not responsible if you try this :D , but aluminum wheel cleaner might work. I use it on my aluminum and it is a great cleaner. It has a bleaching effect as well, so it might help even it out. If you get it even the aluminum will oxidize over time and the stain probably won't show.

Blue- Great minds think alike, I tried that wacky idea and it doesn't work! Ragged it on but must need to bake into surface or something.
MJ- No luck with any/wheel/aluminum/stainless cleaner-name names and I'll try anything. Thank you both! |
Could you imagine if you stumbled onto the best way to clean aluminium Chas? That would be too easy.
Bleach and ammonia...just dont go near the fumes. Kidding. |
Blue, I follow that advice when approaching wife's cooking...
NOT kidding... |
