Pin Drive Wing-nut Question.
Gentlemen; I am assembling the Frond Pindrive hubs for my Contemporary Chassis and an interesting question arrose:The box that contains my Brembo Front Jag Rotors was marked Left and Right.I realize that this means Left for the Left side of the car and so-on. The Pindrive three bar "Wingnut" also is marked "L" and "R".On the drivers side the wingnut attaches tightening by turning clockwise (As you face it)yet it is marked "R" (On the left side of the car), and the Pass side spinner is marked "L" and tightens counter-clock wise. Any Experts out there that can enlighten me as to why they are like that and which one goes on which side?. Thanks:confused:

They should be installed so they tighten toward the rear.
As one sage here on the forum said " The way to remember the direction, is to remember that eveyone likes a tight a**." Also, it is a good idea to drill a 1/16" hole in one of the spinner arms, and safety wire them. BigMike |
The R/L on the knockoffs pertains to the threads used on the respective pieces, not the side of the car they go on. Right hand threads/left hand threads. They are installed so that they attempt to "tighten" as the car travels forward, consequently L/H threads are required on the R/H side of the carand R/H threads on the L/H side of the car. Be sure to use anti sieze on the threads and tapered surfaces of the lug nuts/adapter hub and the wheel and knock off. It's a little messy however it will save a lot of grief, and allow the parts to be disassembled when desired.
The R/L for the Brembo's pertains to the venting of the rotors, the vanes are designed to rotate at speed in one particular direction and force air though the vanes inside the rotor. Rick |

Gentlemen; I have been enlightened!,Thankyou....And I Sold the Aluminum Wingnuts and purchased a fine set of Stainless ones - to alleviate the common galling issues. Take care all:cool:
