Distributors?

Is there a preferrred distributor for a 351w? Not a particular brand in as much as whether it should be a mechanical or vacuum advance?

I have run both the Ford Duraspark and MSD distibutors on my 351-W,there is NO comparison, the MSD is at least 10 times better............ I spoke with the MSD tech people before ordering and they recommended that for the street, use a vacum advance model and for racing using a mechanical model.............I run a vacum model on my street car (351-W) and a mechanical model on my 65 Mustang road race car (331).........could not be happier with either of them........

Not long after I replaced my Ford Duraspark distibutor (it broke and left me on the road) with the MSD model,I went on a 650+ mile trip with my car,at the same time I also changed my paper air filter to a K&N model, same size, for the round trip, all interstate driving,I averaged 2.2 mpg better than when I had the Ford distributor in the car!!!!!!!!!!!!! MSD model has been in my car for about 4 or 5 years now without any problems...............
