lug stud alignment needed
How do I adjust the lug studs to align correctly to fit the Trigo pin drive adaptor? The fronts went right on, but the rears need adjusting. :rolleyes:
Also how can I trim off the studs to 5/8" |
Did you buy the wheels new from Trigo? There should have been a adjustment ring in there packed with the hubs.
If not e-mail me with your address and I'll send you one to use if you send it back. To cut the wheel studs I just used a cut off wheel on a hand grinder. Measured the distance needed from the brake face then ran a stock type lug nut down to the mark cut the stud to the outside face of the lugnut then backed the lug nut off. I asked a couple of people if the heat generated would effect the lug and was told no. Your other choice is to pull your rotors and then install new lugs the length needed. Do not forget to use antiseize when instanlling the wheels and spinners to the hubs |
Yes, I have the ring, and the studs are not aligned, so I need to adjust the studs to fit in the ring. Short of hitting them with a big F'n hammer, I'm unsure how to adjust them,...????

Run a lugnut(I used some old deep socket mag wheel type lugnuts) onto to the stud the then hit it a good whack in the direction it needs to go to align with the ring. You won't hurt them unless you do a "pile driver" hit. You use the gauge periodicaly to check alignment with the trigo pins. Eventually you'll get them all in line and the gauge will slip on and off. It took me about an hour and a half but I was taking my time to get them all adjusted. The wheel then slipped on no problem like the other 3.
You really won't hurt the lugs. I had to adjust the studs on one rear hub on my car. The lugs are hardned metal and it does take some force to bend them back into line. Why/how they are not aligned I haven't a clue unless it was to an accident to the car I got my rearend from. Good luck |

You do need to whack the pins a little to get them to fit the fixture ring....at least I did. A gentle BFH will do the trick.

Guess i got lucky, mine slid right on after i torqued them. When i had them only lightly tightened the ring didn't fit though, so be sure you have them properly and fully tightened before you try to check them.
