351W balancer type
Need some help people. I have a 74' 351W that the harmonic balancer just broke. Trying to leave the Charlotte area tomorrow, but it looks like that may have changed, but the question is is the balancer an internal or external type? or what do I need to look for to find the answer. As I am changing out the balancer any recommendations before I order one from Jegs or Summit. The engine is a Southern Automotive stroked 351W that runs and pulls hard.
Thanks, Mike |
Mike;
Get the # off the balancer and call Southern. I doubt you have an internally balanced engine, but you never know. Some balancers can be rebuilt a lot cheaper than a full replacement, but it still will most likely have to come out. SA will know. Bill Stradtner |
eticket: Call your engine builder immediately, he will have records and a build sheet denoting the parts used in the build and any modifications done. Most likely it is a standard balancer that has had the internals adjusted to bring it into balance. It shouldn't be to difficult to meet your time deadline.
