Cigarette Lighter

I want to add a cigarette lighter element to my SPF Cobra. In the manual it mentions that some were fitted with lighter. It appears that the socket is located under the dash on the bottom lip, somewhere close to the speedo (guess), so it does not show on the dash.

Does anyone have one in a SPF? Where exactly should it be located. Which wire should I tap into?

I want it for cell phone charging, laptop, G-Force meter, GPS, etc.

Thanks in advance

Warren, on SPF 1980, the element is located immediately to the right of the trip meter reset knob, horizontal to the dash.

My owners manual shows the connection originating in the left-most fuse panel (facing forward) 10 amp, #15 position (red wire.) The transfer wire to the element is black (live only when ignition is on.) If this is as clear as mud, I'll scan the appropriate pages for you. Just in case you are conversant with this mumbo-jumbo, the book also notes that the fuse box may be installed in an inverted position (the Australian option?)

I'm pretty sure electrical wiring is the work of the Devil.

Terry :)
