Racing Cobra?
After reading all the hype surrounding the loyalty to different manufacturers' kits I start to wonder who really has the best platform? Of course, you would need an " All Cobra Race Series" in order to definitively answer this question- but how about this to get the ball rolling?
1- If you were to build and all-out race Cobra, which kit manufacturer's chassis would you start off with if you had your choice? Best geometry, most user-friendly, affordable replacement parts for a long racing season, best handling, etc.... 2- Would it be realistic to create an " All Cobra" race series to put these cars to the test and possibly learn something in the process? (hopefully to be shared by the industry for improvement of existing platforms?) Okay, so I'm naiive, but this should make a good exercise and discussion if it doesn't degenerate into "mine is better than yours" type discord. Any takers? Did I just open a "drum-o-worms"? :)- Bob |

A very talented and professional gent known as "Morris", who posts here, is doing just such a project which he is "blogging" over on Gasholes.
He is virtually re-inventing the car ( and he's starting with a KMP to answer your first question), for severe track hardcore performance. Read some of it or contact him and you'll soon answer your own question. To answer your second question, he IS sharing and codeveloping chassis and drivetrain with Bros. K and McCloed who are eagerly cooperating so some of this high-level engineering is already trickling down to "our" consumer level. KMP's have had several suspension upgrades due to his work already. A very interesting and praise-worthy project which he is generously sharing for no financial gain but purely our gearhead benefit. Reading Morris' work always makes me want to go into the garage and burn my car to the ground... |

JBL makes a great "race" platform and the expertise from the manufacturer on setting it up for racing is what JBL is all about! Hard to beat a light weight FFR, for great handling (set up correctly) and decent price! Kirkham understands the weight issue and is working hard to get it down as low as possible. Weight, the holy grail of any race car! |
Tom's Motorsports prepares and races several Shelby spec racers and is quite knowledgeable about them and several other makes.
Levy Racing would be able to help with FFR. |
