weak spark
Here goes. I started my motor a couple of weeks ago for the first time. I haven't been able to start it since. I have a 408W, stacked fuel injection, Redline/Weber fuel and ignition management system, MSD distributor #8578, MSD blaster II coil #8200.
I tested the spark from the coil and the spark is weak, only registering a spark jump to a ground a 1/4" away. Cut my distributor cap open so I could see inside and could not see a spark jump from the rotor to the terminals. I have rechecked and cleaned all of my grounds twice with no luck. All of my other accessories, heater, cooling fans, radiator fan, lights, dimmer, hazard lights, gauges, fuel pump, horn, turn signals, starter, and starter relay all work fine. I even have 2 ground straps to the block. The Tech at Redline says an MSD box is not required, I believe him but the results would indicate otherwise. Any suggestions? Anybody with a similar setup with the Redline/Weber ECU have any thoughts? |
This might help.
http://www.msdignition.com/1troub1.htm When I first installed MSD on my ERA, I tried to tap into a wire that had less than 12 volts for the MSD - car wouldn't start. Changed to 12 volt source - problem fixed. Good luck :) |
Use the box... Your problems will be solved.
