Clutch Pedal Pressure Question

Has anyone with a Shelby/Kirkham aluminum car had to reposition their clutch pedal when using a hydraulic throwout bearing? I am using the McLeod Dual Disk setup and found that the pressure required to press the pedal was much too high. According to Red at McLeod, it appears that I need to move the mounting hole for my master cylinder down about 3/4" (that would place it about 2 1/8" from the center of the pivot point) to get better angle (roughly 1:6 ratio to the total length of the pedal).

By the way - using the 3/4" master cylinder and McLeod T/O bearing.

Has anyone with the same setup done this? If so, is the pressure noticably better? I assume it would be but I am trying not to move the hole 3/4" (would prefer 1/4"-3/8" to keep a good angle to the master cylinder)

Thanks in advance.

I did something similar; I moved the hole to CORRECT the pushrod/master cylinder alignment. Then, not liking the pedal ratio, I moved the rod back to the original hole and corrected the alignment by shimming one of the M/C bolt holes with a washer.

You might try shimming the M/C and then moving the hole as much as possible while maintaining alignment.

James,

Morris is using the dual disks and a hydraulic TO bearing. He posts a lot on the gasholes site. I don't know if he has a feel for the clutch as he is just getting to that point. As a side note; my engine is similar to yours in power (yours just revs higher as it is a solid and mine is a hydraulic) and I haven't had any problems with clutch slipping (other than tires). I'm using the dual friction 12 in McCleod clutch with a external slave. I had the slave re-sleeved to reduce the bore to .75 in and it works perfect. More than enough travel. Of course, I had the slave done by Whitepost Restorations so it costs as much as a hydraulic TO bearing, but it is guaranteed for life.
