Cobra runs hot

My cobra is a factory 5 with a 351 W crate engine. After I drive for 15 to 20 minutes the temp gauge shows a temp of 210 and going up. If stopped at a light the temp will rise to over 220 and then drop when I start moving again. I checked the electric fan and it's on, it turns on at 180 to 190. With the car idling I checked the fan operation and the fan is on and the temp. continues to rise at one point to over 230 deg. With the engine idling and the fan running hot air blws across the radiator. Help!

HOT

TOO MUCH ANTIFREEZE WILL OVER HEAT A CAR ON A HOT DAY. YOU NEED 20 - 30 %, NO MORE THAN 50/50. YOU COULD HAVE A AIR LOCK IN THE SYSTEM. REMOVE THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR ON THE INTAKE JUST BEHIND THE DISTRIBUTOR. POUR WATER INTO THE HOSE FILLER TILL IT RUNS OUT THE HOLE FOR THE SENSOR. APPLY SEALANT AND INSTALL THE SENSOR. DO YOU HAVE A RADAITOR HOSE FILL? CHECK ROTATION OF THE WATER PUMP BY REMOVING THE RADIATOR CAP AND REV-ING THE MOTOR TO SEE IF WATER IS PUSHED OUT OF THE RADAITOR HOSE FILLER. MOST OF THE TIME OVER HEATING IN A COBRA IS A SIMPLE FIX.

Anti freeze isn't your problem but Dwight is right. In a more mild climate I'd suggest water wetter. If you drop below 20 degrees for 12 or more hours I'd say 50/50... 32 degrees for 12 hours or more 25%...

Your fan is doing nothing at speeds over 50 mph. What is the temp at freeway speeds for say 30 min?

At freeway speeds the temp is stable at just under 200 deg. The car also idles rough, could this be related to the high temp.

Check for vacuum leaks.
