Opinions on what options to purchase
I am looking at purchasing a 351W High Performance Engine W/420HP from Performance Unlimited in NJ. This motor is "turn-key" and is specifically built for Cobra kits. The motor will be about $6,600 after applying the 3% internet discount to the order. Looking at the spec sheet at the following web page:
Performance Unlimited I plan on purchasing a Hurricane kit to put it in and this motor matched up with a TKO 600 should work nicely. Is there any options worth considering that this motor doesn't have and should I go with the electric choke and 650 CFM carb as indicated below? 600 CFM Edelbrock Carburetor. (Manual Or Electric Choke) Or The Edelbrock 650CFM AVS Series Carb For $75.00 Additional Is this motor worth the money? Thanks |
Can't help you with engine never heard or dealt with the builder...but with the stated HP the 650cfm, Edlebrock(or Holley) might be a better choice...what does the builder recommend? As for manual vs electric I like my manual choke on the Edlebrock 600 I'm running on a 289 hi-po at about 310 hp.
Others may say forget the Edlebrock and go Holley. Holleys are infinetly tunable ,with a caveat being " infinitely tunable" to get them set up right, for me way too many variables and $$ and previous knowledge required in setting up Holleys.MOO. |
Thanks, I probably will stick with the std setup as I'm not much of a "tuner", I classify as a "tinker-er". I like fairly low maintenance. I'm still putting this all together on paper and figuring out what to put in it.
