Chassis design
2 Attachment(s)
I have this little problem with an exhaust port on my Yates heads having the main chassis/engine bearer smack in the middle of the port! Thinking of tidy ways to modify it! I could go outwards but then that would be on a different plain than the rest of the chassis, re the pictures the port is high up about 3-4" above the welded in engine mount tubes.
This may to harder one to post here, and I will sort it anyway, but someone with a bit of knowledge on space frame chassis design may offer an opinion! Thanks Ant. |
ANT,
Cut the vertical tube in question about 20mm above the welded tube cluster on teh bottom, and cut at the top, grind the remaining connection on top off. Then insert a matching tube at the angle you want for clearance and weld to the stub and top. The only result is the vert tube load that is keeping the top horizontal frame member in tension then will only offset the load point and slightly unequal the horizontal tension amounts. No boggie. grumpy |
