can you help me with jack repair?
I have a nice old heavy duty Sears 3 ton floor jack that I acquired cheap. It has served well and today, it will not hold when pumped up. It will pump up, but fades with weight on it. I know it is probably just best to go get a new one for 100 or so bucks, but does anyone know about possible rebuild kits for it. I did find the number on sear's customer service site, but very limited info. no parts for rebuild that I can tell, just wheels, handle, and stuff like that. number of the unit is 214.50135. Any help would be appreciated.

With a new Craftsman 3-ton being $70, I doubt many repair kits are made for it. You might try taking it apart and see if you find some new seals the same size and shape.

Gosh, I was afraid of that. Not that I am cheap, I just like my old "junk" as my wife calls it. old cameras, old cars....(smiles) I hope I can find something. Maybe just to do a better harbor freight run.

hey, Dean, are you up in Chicago? I am looking at a car on the internet right outside of Chicago. Maybe I could talk you into checking it out for me..?

Buzz;
I just had a old Greenlee hydraulic slugbuster (chassis punch) repaired at a local hydraulic repair shop. It cost me all of $32.10. Call around. It's not much different than rebuilding wheel cylinders. Bill Stradtner |
