I have their manual too....I bought it when I had my small block with a 750 Mighty Demon.
I emailed Don Gould not too long ago with my combination.....he again recommended a Mighty Demon 750. 750 just sounds so small though...considering the 327 Chevy engines came out with 750's on them..... |
I was running a 1050 Dom...talked to Don last summer and bought an 825 Mighty Demon. Quarter times and mph stayed the same, better throttle response though, and that's shifting at 7500 rpm.
The reason I switched was that I was having trouble with EGT temps, couldn't get the air speed and distribution with the 1050. |
Patrick James at www.Pro-system.com setup the Holley DP going on my 408.
I haven't run it yet, buy I know many people using his carbs including some of the top racers around. He's got a solid reputation for building carbs that make power. :3DSMILE: |
What size is it?

My 428 had an 850 DP Holley on it until last year when I installed a Don Gould (4 Seconds Flat) prepped and flowed Mighty Demon 750 DP. The old Holley (14 years) used to bog on my like crazy if I trommped the go pedal whereas the new Demon is just totally instantaneously responsive. Additionally, the car performs better all around and my gas mileage has gone up by 10 percent which is about one mile per gallon more. (hey every litttle bit helps... ;-)) That said please do yourself a favor and call Don up and before hand fill out his information document about your engine. He was very helpful and also he provided some cell phone in the garage coverage for me when I was doing the final setup... The Mighty Demon has two idle speed screws.... I did not know that (hee hee) Unabashed.... Art |

Patrick is known for his vast knowledge/experience on emulsion packages and fuel shear. He's also one of he few "tuner" shops to use a wet flow bench for testing/setup. |
There may be two things getting confused.
One common thread...people with tuner carbs built for their configuration say they get good throttle response, good mileage, and good power. People with off the self carbs report good response if the carb is small. Good power if it is big. And the moral of this story is... |
Hey Art....when you say flowed, did he let you know what it would flow on a bench?
