engine cleaning tips

Need some engine cleaning tips. Intake manifold is starting to look brown and dingy. Tried soap and water, no luck. I think its cast aluminum. Anyone with some good tips on making it look good again please reply.

Thanks,
Kajun

Do the whole engine with simple green...Let it sit for at least 15 minutes, then lightly hose off.

I've tried just about everything and found NAPA brake cleaner to be the best,
it's in a spray can about $1.75, $21 or so a case.

I've found the easiest and cheapest way to keep my engines clean is to fix any oil, fuel or coolant leak the instant one is detected.:D

Bill I did this today. My engine wasn't real dirty but we live on a dirt road and it was dusty. Came out clean as a whistle. Certinaly smells better than any of the engine cleaners that I have tried. Thanks for the info.
