Newbie Coolant temp question

I noticed just yesterday my coolant temp changing suddenly. My car is a LS 427 w/a 427 Center oiler. The car runs great and temp seems normal at +/- 200 while cruising. Warms to 210 and will get knocked back to 200 w/ a little speed/air movement.

But I noticed last night that when I open it up the temp gauge drops dramatically. It swings to <150 and lower w/ higher RPM, but then right back to +/- 200 when I get back to +/- 2000 rpms.

Could my pulley be too much of an underdrive. Could a belt be slipping, I hear no squeaks. Thermostat sticking?

The pulley on the pump looks to be about 6", the crank is about 5.5" and the alt is about 2" for what its worth.

I'd like my car to run a little cooler as I haven't even had it in warm weather yet.

Mat, it sounds strange, (to me) that it would swing around 50 degrees in such a short time period. Waiting for someone with to chime in here with an answer.

I've got to agree with RedSnake351; the only thing I can think of is an electrical glitch, such as a poor ground.
