brake light question/help
I was driving my car a couple of weeks ago when the brake light went on. Turns out I had no brake fluid in the rear reservoir. I've added fluid and bled the rear brakes, but the light is still on.
Looking at manuals about how the proportioning valve works, it appears as though it hasn't reset to its balance position. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Thanks, JLW PS - the car is a factory-built Classic Roadsters with what looks like standard Ford master cylinder and proportioning valve. |
Open a bleeder on the opposite end of the vehicle and press on the brake pedal. This will move the valve back in the opposite direction. So, in your case open a bleeder on one of the front wheels and push on the brake pedal. If you do this with the key turned on you will know when the valve moved back to center as the warning light will go out. Stop at that point and close the bleeder.
