I need help with Bumper Mounting
I am using Overriders and I have no idea where they are supposed to be installed at, I know that they go between the lights and the trunk, but beyond that I am lost...anyone have specific measurements of where to drill and the proper distance they should be apart? I need the information for the front and rear.
Thank you |
it depends on how your frame is built, contact the manufacturer and ask for instructions on installing them, most all kits have different frames

The Company that manufactured the kit is no longer in business. Any general idea's?

assemble the bumper, level the bumper where you want it, drill pilot holes through the body stick welding rods through the holes, now you will have to fabricate a bracket to mount the bolts for the bumper, use the welding rods as a guide, the holes for the front bumper are oval shaped, make sure you get the oval grommets for the support tubes, round ones for the rear

Fleiss,
Isn't yours built on a C3 frame? If not, read no further. If so, there is a guy local to phoenix named Jeff Classic who runs Cobrasnvettes (or something like that). He builds a C3 based cobra and may be able to help. I cannot recall his handle on Club Cobra, but you might try posting on the Arizona Cobras forum here under club forums. Jeff is a super guy and has experience with C3 conversions. Edit: His handle here is vettestr Good Luck |
On my SPF, the bumperettes (overriders) are 30 inches apart on the front and 30 1/2 inches on the rear, horizontally, centerline to centerline.
Vert distance between struts is 2 1/4 inch. The top of the chrome strut on the rear is just below a rectangular taillight. Of course, bracket locations and other factors will modify this on your Cobra. On the front, the struts are located 1/2 of the distance between the brake duct openings and the fish mouth for the rad. |
Thank you for the posts!
