Baby steps/Webers in the future

I have been slowly gathering and fabricating the pieces necessary to add Webers to my 289. I have a NOS unmounted Manifold and just finished the fabrication and welding of the fuel/water manifold today.

Brent Mills 04-06-2006 09:17 PM

Rick, I fixed up your post so both photos would show. I love bits you fabricated.

Thanks Brent, I couldnt get it to include both photos. What was I doing wrong?

Brent Mills 04-06-2006 09:38 PM

Just looked like a cut/paste error as the second photo had two img tags on both front and back of url to the photo.

Reversing Plates

Rick,

To save yourself a ton of trouble with linkage consider fabing or buying a set of reversing plates for that manifold. If all the carbs are mounted in the same direction linkage is much easier to build and adjust.

I will be working on my linkage most of the day, I will try to take a few photos as I progress.

We could really get crazy and use spilt Dominators!

Weber linkage

I worked most of the day on this between honey do's and it seem to to work real well. I purchased all the linkage pieces from Pierce Maniflods. http://www.piercemanifolds.com/linkage.htm

I used only one idle screw for the entire system and by adjusting it all the throttle plates move in unison. I also used throttle stops on the front passenger and the rear drivers carbs and disconnected the return springs on the two others.

Nice setup, Scott! That linkage set should work perfectly! I'm looking to change mine. I'm not happy with it...

Rick, got my parts together & have a guy who can put the ridge in the inlet/outlets. I spoke to Lynn Parks today about his Y-Manifold. I asked him if he ever had a problem with fuel boiling. He told me that he has not had a problem with that & also said that he is always moving (racing) so there is always air moving past the fuel log. He also does not use a thermostat, rather a restrictor plate of some type.
