Which car for me ?????

This being my first ( hopefully ) real contact with other members of CC I am looking for advice on what type of car might best suit my needs. I would like to source a car, either kit or complete from the USA as from what i have seen nothing from this part of the world ( New Zealand ) would even remotely compare with the type of cars being produced in the States. Admitedly their is a SPF dealer in Melbourne, Australia who I am going over to catch up with in a week and a half but am not sure that I would source from, at this stage.
Basically as we are in the fartherest corner of the globe everything I've learned about cobras in the last 4 - 5 years has been through magazines or web sites and in taking the plunge to purchase I want to be sure I am making a well informed purchase. I am 6 foot 3 inches so from what I can gather would have a problem fitting into some of the brands available, ( first problem ). I have no real or perceived judgement as to which brand may be the better or best and am sure there will be a lot of differing opinions but with the NZ dollar being what it is ( second problem ), I don't wish to spend more than $40k US either. Also am not adverse to purchasing a good kit up to turnkey minus if indeed this might be the best way to start ????
Look foward to any and all advice

Graham,
I have a "semi" Backdraft car made in South Africa, I am 6'4" and fit more than comfortably in my car...........and as for value for money, well in my book.....no one beats them......for their turnkey minus cars.......
If you want to go KITS..........I would recommend Hurricane for sure. there have been some excellent feedback from Owners/builders of Hurricane kits in the last few days....
I hope that helps

Ditto on what SACoupe says regarding Backdraft. I am 6'5" and 280 lbs.

Cheers!

Hunter cobra cars has a 96in version with dropped seating that will easily fit a 7 footer without your head over the windshield,

I'm 6'1" with about 3" or more legroom to spare in My ERA wich can be priced with a Superformance depending on how you build or have it built. Don't think either will get in under the $40k range though unless you really squeeze on that ERA. Mine was right about $40 before webers, extra wheels/tires, Top/side curtains etc & I did most of the assembly, engine & bodywork/paint myself.

Thanks guys for the feedback. Much appreciated.
I'm off next week to Melbourne Australia to see what the superformance is like but quite frankly the dealer is dreaming with his pricing. It will however give me the opportunity to get an idea for that particular brand as to finish, and fit ( for me inside the cockpit).
More tech questions ????. How about engines. I know there will be a vast range of views for those with a preference for big block but I suppose really I am equally as interested in driveability as well as authenticity. I would like to eventually aqu7ire a car with around 450 to 550 hp and don't know how a small block would stack up in this respect.
How about gaerbox choice, diff, gearing etc etc etc. ???????????
