Clutch Issues Please help!!!
I have a Borg Beck Pressure Plate, Hays SS 10.5" clutch, Ford Fork, and Lakewood pivot ball.
The issue I'm having is that if the pivot ball is adjusted to where the clutch is released when depressed the ball will rub on the back of the pressure plate. If I shorted the ball, and adjust the throw of the clutch fork when depressed the the clutch fork rubs against the back of the pressure plate. I was using a Standard Ford Throwout bearing. What do I need to do to make this work? I was thinking about a McLeod Adjustable throwout bearing. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku Thoughts? I REALLY apprecaite any help!!!!!! Well, I think we figured it out....
Apparently I have an ODD combination that needs a specific TO bearing to work. There was only one way to get the clutch to release and that was to adjust the pivot ball out. But then the Pivot ball hit the back of the Borg & Beck pressure plate in 3 areas (bolts). What we had to do was get a McCleod adjustable TO bearing 1/16" that adjusted from 1.375 length to 1.750 length which would allow the correct engagement of the pressure plate. All should be well in the world by this afternoon. Apparently the combination of the McCleod bellhousing, Borg Beck Pressure plate and the pivot ball on the passangers side requires a longer throwout bearing. Who would have known. I will say this though, an adjustable is only $3 more than a regular and WELL worth the Money up front in my opinion now. Cheers, Ryan Cassidy |
