anyone know the thread size on canton
I am trying to find the thread size on a canton pan of the FE. I think it is 1/2 with thread pitch of 20, but hard to tell and I don't want to run the wrong size of tap through there and mess it up. can anyone confirm?
thanks

Thread size for what? Bolting the pan to the block? Oil plug hole? Dipstick hole?

yeah, the thing is 15 years old and looks like to cure a leak someone just kept torquing on it. I just want to chase the threads and see if they will clean up. did not want to change my threads by accident

Is it on the engine? Watch out for shavings...even when you chase threads...
Does it have a washer on it?

the people who did the engine originally did not put in a bushing or bearing. they machined the input shaft of the crank to fit into the conical end of the crank. amazing that it has held up...but putting things right as we speak
