A couple of questions for East Coasters
I was bleeding my brakes and noticed some leakage. Seems three years on salty roads (yes, I drive in the winter---on the 'Cape it's usually over 45 degrees, so why not?) has worked its magic on already-old tubing. What are some good leads on stainless brake lines. Went into Fast Fords, etc. and got my head spinning. Anyone got good leads or ideas, I'd appreciate a shout.
Item two is simply based on curiosity. After reading some horror stories about old, hard-used Jag rears, I thought it might be wise to have some insight into normal checking and maintenance. Rather than emburden you guys with tons of writing, etc., I just may need an address or heads-up. One guy from N. H. told me to "definitely have the thing checked, spec(k)ed and cleaned up". His had a Contemporary which had the same rear end (XKE) as mine.He scribbled down a business address in TENNESSEE. The place specializes in rebuilding Jag rear-ends with Spicer(?) and Dana(?) centers. Any help on this will be amply rewarded (at the very least, I'll stay off your threads!) Ar-ar-ar-0000000(gle)! Cheers |
As far as the SS brake lines, I use these guys and I am very happy with the parts and service:

Freddy,
For stainless brake lines check out SSB, they can make and bend any type of brake lines you need. http://www.stainlesssteelbrakes.com/ SSB was/is owned by Paul and Lauren Fix (Driving Ambitions Performance Driving school), the inside guy I used to deal with was Mark but it has been years. I dumped those Jag brakes years ago and got the Wilwood Jag kit from CWI in CA. CWI specializes in Jag rears. http://www.cwiinc.com/ BTW the Jag rears are Dana 44 Good luck, RD |
Try the Jaguar Clubs North America web site for some contacts:
http://www.jcna.com/contacts.php There is a Jaguar full restoration shop, mechanical etc., in NorthWest Vermont. I think it is The Best of Britain in South Ryegate, but not sure. If I see their advertisment, I will post the info |
As far as the Jag rear end is concerned, I know that Reider Racing does a swell job (ERA uses them for all their Jag Rear Ends, last I heard).
