No turn signals
I got the cobra back together today and every thing is good, except the turn signals aren't working. All the lights work except the turn signals. Is there a fuse that could be blown. The running lights work so the ground is good. Any suggestions as to where to look? As always any help is appreciated.

Little silver can in the fuse block, (#552/536 Littlefuse (2 prong)usually) I replaced mine with an electronic flasher and now it works fine. HTH.

I replaced the buss fuse/flasher and they still don't work. The running lights work so it's not a ground problem. What could be the problem? Any ideas?

Do your brake lights work? If you have the single bulb light that uses two elements the brake light element is what you see when the blinker is on.
You can also check the the switch itself. If it's a 3 wire (one common, one left and one right) it's quick to test for continuity. |

I am also finding out that cheap light sockets are FUN!!! :mad: :mad: :mad: I am going to go to LED's for all the lights like motorcyles use. Brighter lights and less problems. Would that affect the turn signals. We just reassembled the car for paint. Everything worked before we disassembled it.

I checked the fuse for the headlight/brakelights and was good. (replaced it with another 10 Amp and no blinkers.

Last week it was the brake lights that were out. I "jiggled" the bulbs and they worked. Mine are current working for the brakes, warning flashers, and turn signals, but no running lights. Right now, I can just not drive at night until I replace the sockets. But your no brake light issue is serious. Check the sockets for continuity. Maybe it's a loose connection in the socket. Try some WD-40 to make sure everything is getting a good clean contact. Like I said, sockets are notorious for this kind of stuff. Good luck! Cheers! Dave |

are you running a one bulb two element system (single Lucas type lights), there has to be a switch that allows the brake and turn signals to separate, I used relays on my car, most turn signals on stock cars use the turn signal switch to do this, unless I know how your car is wired, it would be difficult to know where the problem is, if you have the two light setup, then the turn signals and stop lights are separate

They are dual element single bulbs (rectangular lense).

Here's a cutout cutout view from my wiring diagram. Notice how the flasher isolator works for the blinkers and the brake light switch. If they are both failing you probably have one of three problems:
1. isolater relay gone bad 2. light socket problem. (make sure the lights are in there correctly and have good connectivity) 3. bad/loose wire somewhere |
I'll need to get at the bulbs and clean the contacts. No easy chore on the car. Thank you for your inputs. I'll post the solution when I find it.
