C.R.A.P. SS alternator bracket
Has anyone used the one piece SS alternator bracket offered by Custom Replacement Automotive Parts? It is a one piece SS design with the lower brace and the upper slotted adjuster arm all in one piece. I've seen it on E-bay item # 140012482531. They offer a high mount kit like this one and a low mount version. Currently I have no lower brace at all. Does the slot line up with the alternator adjuster clamp bolt ? Do any of the holes line up? dose it fit out of the box or is a file necessary? Any other recamendations or alternatives?

MCH,
I don't have an answer to to any of the specs requested, I have purchased parts from C.R.A.P and have been very satisified with their products, high quality work, clean and accurate. Why not call them and ask about your specific needs, they always gave me a fair shake and told me if I wasn't happy they would give me a refund or make the part right, so far so good. |
Would that be the C.R.A.P. A.S.S. (alternator, stainless steel)?

They certainly could have chosen better acronyms! ;)

I don't know, the name does draw a lot of attention and comments, isn't that one of the things you want when selling a product?

OEM bracket prices are getting stupid for beat up old FE pieces .Anyone know of another alternative say a chrome , billet, or stainless brackets for an FE?.

George Anderson @ Gessford sells one in polished aluminum.

The C.R.A.P. SS alternator bracket arrived. Only polished on one side. The edges and holes were dark and still had the cutting pattern. The edges wern't ground down, and had some realy sharp edges.
added after installation - Had to lengthen one hole for coolant pump mounting. slotted adjustment arm could have been a little longer . tension bolt at end of slot , belt could be tighter. A shorter belt isn't an alternative. Alternator allready swings to limit against coolant pump just trying to get belt started. This is what happens when you get away from OEM struff. What I realy wanted was OEM bracket and adjuster arm chromed. |
What a piece of CRAP!
 (I couldn't resist) |
