Tonneau / Top stud repair
I'm sure I can't be the only one to have this happen so here goes.........one of the studs for securing the tonneau and top has come loose on the driver side door. It just pulls out as the hole is now too big for the threads to bite. I put a dab of epoxy on it last night and hope it does the trick. If it doesn't, how have any of you fixed this kind of problem? Do they make these studs with regular treads for a nut and washer? Do they make over sized threads? I can get at this one if I take the door liner out.
All input is greatly appreciated. Tim |
Need to know what type of stud you have? Do you have any photos?

Good since Tim's problem is solved, maybe someone can help me on a similar note...
I was told but with no source that a Lift the Dot stud that will hold 2 females is available. Now now, don't get your imagination go too far  The vinyl fender spats on my SPF uses the last stud near the door to secure the top part; and with them on, I can't use that last dot for the tonneau cover or the soft top. I've searched all over and no luck. Thanks! |
Yes they make the studs that are longer. I found my supplies at a marine oriented upholstery shop. They can be had with a machine screw thread and a self tapping type thread. TRW markets them under the descriptive name of "Dot Snap Fasteners". Hope this helps. The more common name is "Lift the Dot".
