Hi Blackjack,
Everything you want can be found here.

When it comes time to buy, check with XKs Unlimited. Their prices are sometimes MUCH lower.

Good Luck,
Jon

Jag manual...

I have a E-type rear.

Got a manual off of EBay. Blue cover..., can't remember the author...,
but some consider it fairly definitive. Not sure if it's still in print..., hence, Ebay.

I'll dig it out sometime tomorrow and will post the particulars.

Turns out I had the manual handy:

The Complete Official Jaguar "E"

Comprising the official

driver's handbook

You can use Haynes manual # 478...covers Jag xjs & xj6. Very good for twenty buck (cheaper online).

Here is a link to Kirby Palm's book, Experience in a Book: Help for the Jaguar XJ-S Owner. It is written from the owners perspective and gives a lot of tips on maintaining and rebuilding the rear suspension (as well as the rest of the XJ-S) without the special factory tools. Since all Jag rears from the XKE up to the XJ40 series are the same design, it has universal application to all the Jag rears we have in our cars.

I have found it very useful in rebuilding my Jag rear.

The Kirby Palms book and Haynes manual are both very useful for those of us who have pirated Jag parts under our Snake skins. I coulda used them both when I first started messing around with them furrin' parts. But I have them now! :p: Rich

It should have 2 tags. One is BPL (British Power Lock) that is limited slip. The other is the ratio. See if you can read that and it will be either a gear ratio directly or the number of teeth on each gear which gives the same thing. I have an article on rebuilding them I can e-mail you and an Alldata printout on them if you'd like it.
