Door opening - sill - trim and finish
Gday,
Im after some pics of how the door sill (bottom edge of the opening) is finished off. Also around the lock striker and towards the rear cowl of the cockpit, and around the door hinges. The body of my car (which is similar to an Everett Morrison) has a sharp edge around the door opening, and I want to glass in a proper sill and finish off the back edge, and around the door hinge as neat as possible. I got a piece of angle aluminum from Homo Depot. I heated it to take the temper out and make is soft as butter. Shaped it and secured it with button head screws. Then polished it up.

Sterling Motorcars, in Virginia has a nice looking SS door sill molding.

Door sill,
I used aluminum from the local Ace Hardware store. 3/4 x 1/16 x 48" times two. The stuff molds easily and is easy to install and polish. Pics in my gallery a page or so back. Good luck, Jeff |
Home Depot carries aluminum strips in the floor covering department designed to cover the seam between two carpets. The strips are 1" wide. I bought two strips, bent them into shape using the propane tank from my grille as a buck, cut them to proper length and secured each strip with #6x1/4" stainless sheet metal screws. They are a cinch to keep shiny with an occasional rub with 4-0 steel wool. Total cost, less then $3.

Thanks Guys (No home depot down under - we got "Bunnings" or "Hardwarehouse"). I reckon Ive got the sill area sorted, but if anyone has pics looking back at the door striker to the rear cowl, that would be great.
