Carb cars what fuel pump are you running..
Had a Holley blue way to noisey, some people said the carter was good. I got the Carter and it only had inlet/outlet of 5/16, they were part of the pump and couldn't be changed to 3/8 inch which I have on both sides of the pump. Now have a small, Mr. gasket "micro" but it looks like it is only putting out 3lbs.(supposd to be 4-7 lbs. according to paperwork). Haven't had a chance to thrash the car, not registered yet, to see if the pressure will be maintained at high RPM. What is everyone else using? Would have like to have just used the mechanical pump but block is 1990 I don't feel like pulling the timing cover and all that's involved.

I have a Holley Red with a filter before. There is no syphon hills for the pump to overcome and I put a filter at the carb for added protection.

I'm using electric Carter Street/Strip competition with 3/8 input and output.
7psi @70 gpm. A bit noisey but side pipes drowns it out. |

I have the Holley blue. It works fine and once the engine starts all you hear is the sweet sound of those sidepipes.

I don't have much experience with the other pumps, but I'm on my second Aeromotive pump (Street/Strip one) and I will say it's rather noisy. Sometimes you can hear it over the sidepipes, but mainly just while idling. The first one took a dump on me after about 150miles so I think it was defective from the factory. No big deal, it happens. The new pump changes loudness to over a drive so I'm a little leary of it. I have all the proper filtration in place before and after as well.
I was actually surprised how noisy it was. I'm considering trying another pump that might be a little quieter or shall I say consistant on it's DB level :-) This is my first experience with Aeromotive. Not saying it's bad as I have nothing to compare it to. I don't know, just trying to provide you with enough data points to make a decision. Cheers, |

You can help minimize the noise level by placing some rubber insulation between the pump and your frame or whatever it's attached to. Fred, Yes, I am still very pleased with my pump, and yes, it does require a regulator. I got it from Rob at Keith Craft in Plano. :D :D |
Just wondering why you guys are running electric pumps instead of mechanical?

KC told me to use the Holley black with 1/2 inch tubing to feed 600 HP - don't know what your running HP wise.

hi there i have the same pump but have a regulater as well,could this be causing low pressure at the carb? i have 4 psi and cannot get it any higher .could the pump and regulater be working against eachother thanks for any input dave dickinson

Holley red pump hear. Yes makes noise, but how can you hear it over the side pipes?

The fitting bung on the bottom of the LSC tank is 3/8" FPT. All you need is an 3/8" MPT x 8AN (or 1/2") 90 degree fitting to replace the old one with. That's what I installed in mine. While you're doing the work you might want to plumb it up for a return system. It may save future headaches. Dave |
