Olddog, an interesting idea. I think the plumbing would be a nightmare however. And the fittings for a typical 'heat exchanger' type radiator I'm afraid would be to small. Trans oil is certainly much 'thinner' and considerably less volume than engine oil requirements. An oil T-Stat would be better.

I'm sure that the heat exchanger and fittings would have to be propperly sized for the oil and flow. Certainly the ones used for an auto tranny would not work. Perhaps the T-stat is the better solution.

Radiators with built in heat exchangers for oil are quite common. It would replace your oil-to-air cooler.
