I had bought and tried that hose cutter, but it was too small, and didn't cut clean, and I eventually returned it. I then bought a much larger cable cutter from Harbor Freight, and it worked better, cut cleaner and easier, although a little cumbersom since it was bigger.

I tried a cut off saw, but it creates too much metal and rubber dust. Even though I cleaned the hose after cutting it, I just was a little wary about still having some particles in the hose, so, for me, the harbor freight cable cutter is the best way so far.

In addition, I had used Earl's fittings, and they are hard to use. The fitting actually cuts into the end of the hose, as well as compresses it, when installing the fitting. Aeroquip fittings don't cut into the end of the hose, they just compres the end of the hose, and are easier to use. I will from now on use aeroquip.

The jaws are a little small on the cable cutters and the Summit cutter and they don't cut as cleanly as they should. If you can justify the cost this cutter from Irvan-Smith works the best. This one cuts cleanly around all sides of the hose and will handle a -16 hose.
