Radiator plumbing size?

Plumbing engine to remote T-Stat is by -12 lines from my Yates heads, and with the Weiand remote T-Stat, I am intending on making a little alloy header tank that has internal bolts attaching it to this housing!!!

My question is from the header tank to the top of the radiator, I thought it easier and tidier to go to maybe -16 hosing, but I am not sure whether this will have enough flow, but based on the two -12 going to the T-Stat, I would guess a -16 should have equivalent or more volume that two -12?
The other point is cost as going to -16, -20 fittings get pricey!

I plumbed my radiator, top and bottom, with -16 AN. Never had a problem with overheating.

Radiator plumbing

Roscoe,

Looks good, I see you have a recovery system, with no header tank, or the top hose acting as the reservoir - I am considering the same, but I am not that sure on this, and having alloy heads if it gets an air lock - big trouble!!
This may depend on how much lower your radiator water level is to the engine?

You see that little valve next to the dist? That's an air bleeder.

Roscoe,
Do the inlet and outlet of your radiator have actual AN fittings...AN adaptors...male or female? I have always wanted to see how you get the braided hose to and from there and the connections used, and how did you deal with the usual barbed/slip on type hose fittings traditionally used in a cooling system, say around the water pump inlet and outlets etc. etc..
Just curious how you set that up. Have any more pictures?

I ordered my radiator from AFCO Racing. At the time I had them modify the rad by adding AN fittings, top and bottom, sealing off the filler cap and adding a drain petcock. Total cost was around 250.00, radiator and all. The only adapter I have is a GOZO that goes on the lower AN line to a short hose.
