Engine Mount Welding

Hi Everyone,

I've been waiting for quite a few months now for a local builder to come over and weld in the motor mounts. I've had another welder work on the roll bar posts and the seating plates and seatblet posts however, he doesn't have a large enough welder for the motor mounts. In addition, he doesn't have any experience with nuances to drive line requirements.

Can anyone recomment someone in south western NH / northern central MA area who has the mobile equipment and expertise to get the job done. Once this is done, I can finally strip everything down to get the chassis sandblasted and powder coated so I can start the process of putting everything back together, hopefully, for the last time. :3DSMILE:

Why weld? Why not just clamp, drill and bolt?

I'ld considered that but most of the people that I've spoken to suggested welding the mounts. Since I've never installed an engine before, I still would need help from someone with enough experience to ensure that the drive train geometry and angles are correct before I drill and bolt in place. I know some of the basics and I would certainly have some play by bolting them in but I'ld really hate to screw things up to badly either way I go.

You have to have confidence in yourself. Get a couple of guys over that have experience with them and let them help you through it. When I started to build my Cobra about 9 years ago there were times when I felt overwhelmed. However, I got through it, bolted motor mounts and all.

Thanks for the pictures. I'll give bolting the mounts some thought. That would give me some flexibility in the future if I decide to install a larger engine too.

mine are bolted just like the picture above and no problems, used grade 8 bolts
