Brake/Clutch Master Cylinders Contemporary Motors
I'm trying to help a friend get his 1994 Contemporary Cobra back on the road after sitting for nearly 10 years. I'm looking for a source for the original style of master cylinders used by Contemporary. Does anyone know who made them, or did anyone buy up the Contemporary Motors old stock for resale? On my Contemporary the 3 master cylinders are all Girling/Lucas. The clutch slave is from a Volvo 1800.

If they are the rectangular ones, they are mid 80's VW items. I'll see if I can dig up a copy of the owner manual in my basement files to check for part numbers. If they are not the rectangular ones, how about posting a picture and we can figure it out from there.

Send me a picture or post one here on the site. I will circulate around the Contemporary Classic Owners Club. Someone is sure to identify the system. My car uses Jaguar/Girling with a Jaguar power assist. Mainly due to the fact my car was built by a Jaguar restoration dealer and he had all the parts on hand. Mr Mustang is right many did use VW brake parts but I have found more with Wilwood systems lately especially those from the 90's. I don't have them in my possesion at this time, but the appear to be custom units. I've been through all the picture books at NAPA and can't find anything close. They are round, made of high grade steel, appox. 10 to 12" long, tig welded fittings for remote reservoir and pressure out and mounting flange, and gold cad plated. The two brake masters are 3/4" and the clutch 7/8". they are high quality and appear to be of racing type. Wilwood lights calipers were used in all four corners. I hope to have photos soon and I will post them. Thanks for the help. Top Dog.
